The RINO wins
Lincoln Chafee beat back a stiff primary challenge from a much more conservative Republican yesterday in Rhode Island. The stiff challenge has sometimes been cited as evidence of an anti-incumbent mood among the electorate. But, I don't see how anyone can seriously buy that line of hooey. The challenge was about Chafee not marching lock-step with president Bush, not about the fact that he was an incumbent.
In any case I am pleased that Chafee won. I like him. A lot. He's the kind of Republican that I've always favored at the ballot box. Moderate, reasonable, independent.
