Outrageous Democrats
As I've mentioned previously, I became a Howard Dean fan during the 2004 primary race. I signed up for his DFA email newsletters and never got around to getting off their list. So I opened up my email and saw an email from Jim Dean who took over DFA when his brother Howard became the DNC Chairman.
Jim is pissed 'cause Senator Lieberman has refused to deny rumors that he might quit the Democratic party to run as an Independent.
Now, I've never been a fan of Lieberman and have posted previously about Ned Lamont's challenge to Lieberman for the Dem nomination. Apparently Lamont actually might pull it off... which has led to speculation about Lieberman running as an Indie if he can't win the Dem nomination. That all is what it is, I suppose... I don't have a horse in that race. But, Jim Dean's email was disturbingly arrogant.
Senator Lieberman knows that Ned Lamont is for real. A few days
ago, Lieberman told reporters that he is refusing to rule out
leaving the Democratic Party to continue his run for re-election
as an Independent. In fact, he told reporters that he is not
"going to close out any options."(3) While that's his
prerogative, it's still outrageous. Joe Lieberman seems to
believe that he is entitled to keep his Senate seat, and he's
open to leaving the party to do so.
Excuse me!?! Outrageous?
This is the United States of America, not the United States of the Democratic (or Republican) Party. If Lieberman can convince enough citizens of Connecticut to vote for him as an Independent then that is up to the citizens of Connecticut. They don't need or require the Democrats approval.

I agree that Lieberman has every right to run as an independent but if the DSC under Schumer supports him after Lamont wins the primary I will be pissed
I for one wouldn't be surprised if Schumer does support him AND I think that should tell the rank and file all they really need to know about where their party's priorities are at.
Bottom line: Nothing is going to meaningfully change unless or until the entrenched powerbrokers in both the GOP and the Dems have the reins of power wrenched from their fists.
