Focusing on the upcoming election
I've been thinking over the past few weeks of what I would like to do on this blog. I think that with the upcoming elections, we have a perfect opportunity here. I want to focus on campaigns that fall outside of the political establishment. By that, I mean people who are running without GOP or DEM labels, people who are running against incumbants, and people who are running against those who have been anointed in back roomss.
Please give me any feedback about campaigns you would like followed and ideas that you would like discussed....etc.
thanks

Fantastic idea, Donald!
For starters, I would be very interested in the three Indie gubernatorial candidates that I'm aware of. Westlund here in Oregon and the two in Texas.
Hmmm... Ron Paul, although he is officially a "Republican", the reality is that he's a Libertarian. He's been marked as a weak incumbent by the Dems. Considering his consistent criticism of Bush (his essay on why he refused to vote for and the fact that he's really a Libertarian... I'd be interested in his political fortunes.
Any other 3rd party candidates who seem to at least be getting a lot of attention would be interesting to read about too.
Great idea, Don!
Yes, we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg as we head to 2008. Former Repub Christy Mihos is running for gov as an indie in Massachusetts, Russ Potts in Virginia, Russ Diamond in Pennsylvania (seems to be a Libertarian), Green Party Pat LaMarche in Maine, and an important Chicago minister James Meeks in Illinois. In addition, there is an important fight going on within the New York Independence Party right now over local control (the state chair has disolved 3 county committees in the City - Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens in a power grab at the behest of Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer)...
I hadn't heard about the Independence Party fight....and I live in Queens. I'll have to kook into it.
Donald - so do I! (Live in Queens) - we should "do lunch"? Check out today's Hankster...
