Told You So
I remember posting that I was afraid that the wiretapping issue wouldn't be aggressively investigated in the hands of Sen Pat Roberts....well, guess what? Instead of a full Committee hearing, it will be investigated by a specially created subcommittee. This may be more symbolic; but, a full committee seems to carry more weight to me.

I have the same take you do, Donald. Hopefully we're wrong. But, my gut says this special subcomittee may be more of a dog and pony show than an honest investigation. The GOP has put on a full-court press to kick the few Republicans in Congress who have publically questioned this spying crap into line.
Left to their own devices I don't doubt that a sizable minority of Congressional GOPers would like to get to the constitutional bottom of the issue. But, most of 'em want to get reelected too. The reality is often that they have to trade ethics to avoid fratricide in the next election. And the Dems play the same game. Which is why I think we've seen a real chasm develop between the bigshots and the grassroots on the Left.
Maybe someday the grassroots on the Right will get tired of the ethical morass their elected officials keep jumping into and start to fight back too.
