Casey and Clinton

One of the key contests this year in the Senate is in Pennsylvania. Rick Santorum is running against Bob Casey, the son of the former governer. Santorum is definately on the Dem's hitlist this year and rightly so.

However, there is a slight problem. Casey is a pro-life Democrat (or anitabortion if you prefer). Over the last few months I've read about soul searching in the Democratic Party on if they should support Casey. Casey is leading by 10 points in the polls and has a solid chance of winning.

Enter, Sen Clinton. Sen Clinton, through her PAC, has given 10,000 dollars to Casey. This act has raised the ire of some prochoice groups.

Now, I'm not one to jump into the abortion debate very often. But, I do hope this time that the good of getting rid of Santorum will outweigh voting for someone you disagree with on specific issue. Remember, chances are good you will agree on most everything else he stands for.

Then again, my loathing of Rick Santorum may be so great that it is easy for me to ignore the other arguments.

Hillary certainly has taken some flak for that donation. Her explanation is reasonable, IMO, though. It's pragmatic politics.
