the unreal world of politicians

Sometimes, when reading statements by politicians, I can't help but feel that they live in some alternate universe.

I came across this article of a Florida State Senator, State Sen. Alex Diaz de la Portilla, a Miami Republican who had been fined by the state for campaign violations.

The first thing is that the state elections commision slapped him with 311 violations. The State appeals court whittled it down to 17.

First off, he claims he is two poor to pay the fines. However, the court finds that he isn't poor due to the fact he owns 2 homes and a Lexus.

So, the court orders him to pay $8750.

Here comes the kicker though.

Noting that he had faced a much higher fine, Diaz de la Portilla called Clark's decision a "major victory."
"I feel vindicated," the senator said. "This shows that the Florida Elections Commission tried to make a mountain out of a molehill."

Now, to me at least, there shouldn't have even been a molehill. This attitude is what is wrong with our political system over all.

The logic of this politician blows me away.
