Tainted Contributions

Yesteday, the news was full of stories of how politicians in DC are giving away the donations that came from Jack Abramhoff. Some of that money originated from Native American tribes. Now, the tribes are upset because they are afraid that they are going to lose influence in DC.

This reaction from the tribes shows the sad state of our political process. No one in this country should feel that the only way to have influence and a say in our political process is by donating large amounts of cash to politicians.

Also, the politicians race to rid themselves of "tainted" contributions is at once comical and sad.

This scandal may make me support a publicly financed campaign system.
