Dead Pigeons on Fifth Ave
For the most part, I have a live and let live attitude. But, sometimes, someone does something that really burns my behind.
Since moving to NYC, I have gotten into the habit of walking by Conservancy Pond during my walks through Central Park to see two falcons perched up on the high facade of a Fifth Ave Apartment building. These two falcons had become famous in the birding community. The fascinating part about them was how they adapted to city living. They had been in this nest for 10 years.
However, without any notice, they got evicted by the owners of these multi-million dollar apartments. Now, I don't blame them for not being happy about the noteriety of the birds and having people peering at the building with binoculars. But, they didn't even attempt to try to find another solution....Instead, they just tossed the nest away and removed the pigeon bars that held the nesting material in place.
Damn, I can't help but hope that some mean banker forecloses on one of their apartments and rudely tosses them out into the street.
