The ACLU Hates Christians...
...or so the Religious Right would have us believe. Some go even further and assert that the ACLU hates God. Ironically, many of their anti-ACLU rants are overflowing with hatred and profanity.
So, are they right? Does the ACLU hate Christians? Is the ACLU trying to wipe any reference to the JudeoChristian God from the public consciousness?

Those are just a small sampling of cases that I was able to find links to. Obviously neither the ACLU nor any other group has the unlimited server space to post every single such case. Suffice to say that this small listing is more than enough to disprove the lies of the Religious Right.
There are, however, some cases which might explain why the Religious Right is so opposed to the ACLU:
Michigan Court Punishes Catholic Man for Refusing Conversion to Pentecostal Faith in Drug Rehab Program. Note the ACLU's attempt to defend this man's religious liberty.
Eleven-Year-Old Muslim Girl Harassed After Declining Bible From School Principal. Note the ACLU's attempt to defend this little girl's religious liberty.
ACLU of Oklahoma Files Federal Lawsuit on Behalf of Student Accused of "Hexing" a Teacher. Um, anyone remember the Salem Witch trials?
These, of course, are an even smaller sampling of such cases. There are more which I could have linked to.
The ACLU and Religious Liberty by Margaret Crosby. This is a very succinct and brief essay on why and how the ACLU fights for the Separation of Church and State. It's not about an anti-Christian bias, or even an anti-religious bias. It's about equality under the law and about protecting the rights of every single citizen to believe and practice their own spiritual beliefs without undue interference by the government.

THis is definately a valid argument Kevin and I'm glad you took the time to post it.
I once felt the same was as other Christians until I saw instance such as you posted to convince me they had a pure viewpoint and was willing to take on any issue that deviated from it.
I don't always agree with the ACLU...but I do repsect them. To bad our politicians can't be like them.
It is a valid argument, Don. And I wish I could take credit for having thought of it on my own. But, the truth is that I heard much of it on the Randi Rhodes show on Air America yesterday as I was driving home from work.
I don't like Randi. I really don't. Carla will tell you as much. Randi's style is abrasive and very arrogant IMHO. What I like about her show (and I am not a regular listener) is that she talks about stuff that nobody else will talk about. This ACLU thing is a good example of that.
BTW, this is my favorite headline.
ACLU sides with Rev. Falwell in court case
Kevin, I apologize for being off-topic, but this is in response to a comment you made on my site.
I wrote about how I ended up living in Belgrade, and about living overseas in general, in an earlier post, "Living Overseas".
I'm sure your Bosnian friend can tell you a lot about the complex history and politics of the Balkans. The conflicts of the 90s were hard for everyone, and the facts of what happened depend to an unusual degree on individual points of view. If you're interested in the Balkans, I strongly recommend a very readable book by Misha Glenny, The Balkans, 1804-1999: Nationalism, War, and the Great Powers. It's one of the best of a large number of books written on the subject.
the aclu is a leftist anti-christian organization. they wont be happy until religion is outlawed and all morality is erased from our culture. america is a christian nation- deal with it. our founding fathers were christian, all our presidents were christians, most of the people are christians. america is christian. leftist secular forces want to remove christian morals from america and the aclu is leading the assault on christian morals.
