Social Security - The next domestic war

I have, over the last few years, started planning my future as if Social Security wouldn't be there when I retire.

Yahoo as a news article where Nancy Pelosi says that the Democrats will protect Social Security from privitization. However, I have heard very little about what the Democrats will do to make sure SS is around when those of us in our thirties or younger start to retire.

Let's face facts here and admit something needs to be done. Is privitzation the answer? I'm not sure. But, keeping things the way they are isn't the answer either.

So what should be done?

if you are under 40 and expect to collect ss you are insane- of course you will pay into it your entire life. privatization doesn't work because its a pay as you go plan young people's money goes to pay old people's benefits-the baby boomers never funded it and now expect a much smaller generation to support them- its soylent green time in America

I am confident that with privatized SS there will at least be SOMETHING there for the folks to take part in it.
Unlike the often raided failed plan we now have...
