Arafat's departure and Peace's arrival

I must admit, I am not particularly sadden by Arafat's death. I wholeheartedly agreed that he was a roadblock to peace.

For all the attack's on Israel's bulldozing and building a wall etc; I can't help but wonder the following.

Would Israel attack the Palestinians if the suicide bombers stayed home? I highly doubt it.

Arafat chose to walk away from the peace table years ago and has been attacking Israel ever since. Now, hopefully, the attacks will stop. And both sides can find a way to live in peace.

Palestine is on a knifes edge... either they can scoot up to the table and talk peace, or the more radical of the group will take over and the war will reach a new fevered pitch over there.

I hope Israel bombs them into the stone age and FORCES them into peace. THAT is how wars are won or lost, not at the dickering table. But the end of a bayonette.

Speaking of the Stone Age... That must be where Raugh was hanging out while South Africa went thru one of the most profound transformations - from racist apartheid to peaceful coexistance - by opting to stop killing each other and start "dickering" (a Raughism for talking to one another like civilized people).

As for Arafat. I agree with most of what you posted, Donald. But, Sharon, Netenyahu and their radical Right Wing supporters were as much a part of the problem as Arafat was. Sharon in particular has the blood of innocent civilians on his hands too. Noteworthy is the fact that the Israeli government's sole tact in fighting the attempted trial of Sharon in the Hague for his past war crimes was one over jurisdiction. They never asserted that he was innocent. Rather they argued that the Hague didn't have jurisdiction over Sharon.

Kevin, my comments should not be read as e.xusing the actions of anyone else.

Also, Arguing jurisdictional Authority should not lead to an automatic assumption of admiting guilt.
